“Blu Anda 172” is a 18 metre, high speed, fast cat launched in November 2013.
The FastCat hull form is a Deep Vee planing hull with hard chines and has been very successful over the years for high speed applications in the 30-40 knot range.
Powered by twin MTU 8 V 2000M72 (2 x 965hp) engines and through a conventional prop/shaft propulsion system, the top speed at trials was over 34 knots with a comfortable cruising speed of well over 30 knots. The design incorporates “Mini keels” matched with the deep vee hard chine hulls giving excellent sea keeping. The relativly conventional prop/shaft stern gear was supplied by BT Marine in the UK and features twin 32 inch fixed pitch 5 blade prop’s.
These cat’s were specifically designed to operate in large seas and wave conditions at high speeds, they will now carry VIP day trippers 50 Nautical Miles each way every day out to the pristine islands off Phuket, Thailand. Once out there, they will utilize hydraulic dive platforms from the aft’ deck for tender launch and diving operations.
This sleek new design is completed to a super-high standard of appointment by the Australian and Thai team. The vessel is fully faired with West System filler and painted with Alwgrip paint system for a mirror finish.
