This striking high speed, commuter/tourist catamaran named “Legacy” was designed and built for it’s proud new owners at Stradbroke Flyer in Brisbane, Australia. To quote John Groom soon after loaded sea trials: “Speeds and fuel consumption were brilliant, 23 kn @ 1800rpm and 65 Lph / Engine. Red line at 28.5 kn @ 2350rpm. We changed prop’s back to an old set of tweaked Calypso props. She doesn’t bog down getting out of the hole, just punches well above her weight. She is brilliant in service and the new styling that Jay helped us with has really stirred up some interest.”
This is the third 21 Metre hull to be built using this proven “Sea Cat 21” hull design and KIT. This enables the builders a quick start using the existing hull “CNC Kit File”.
To quote the builders: “The vessel structure is designed to Lloyds SSC Passenger Catamaran G2 rules and built to comply with NSCV Class 1D. The hull form has been optimised for excellent fuel efficiency and low wash characteristics at operational speeds. Modern, intelligent systems will support robust engineering to provide high redundancy, low maintenance and reliable long term operation. It is intended that the fire, flood and safety systems on-board will represent the latest technology combined with best industry practices. The cabin arrangement shall provide comfortable seating and large panoramic windows. The open plan deck arrangement will provide access to all areas for light and ventilation. Large, tinted windows provide generous views and ample light whilst reducing heat transfer into the passenger space. Seated passengers will be on the main and upper decks. Passenger access will be via port and starboard boarding doors located fwd and aft. A minimum of 150 seated positions will be provided comprising approximately 110 internal and 40 external seats.”
