Details and Specifications of Norfolk Tern

This 17m Wind Farm Catamaran was built and designed in accordance with the MCA criteria with Hull and Engineering to Lloyds SSC standard for offshore operations, enabling operation in most countries.

The design is based on the “Deep-Sea Cat” hull which is proven in large seas and features high wing clearance, deep vee hull forms and extra strong structure and plating. This version also features walk around sides, large forward and aft’ work decks, spacious day cabin and below hull berthing for six crew. Large fuel capacity matched with fuel efficient hulls give extended range and fuel bunkering capabilities. Overall we feel it is the ideal crew boat/workboat suitable for a range of operational services.

Quote from owners:

“The NORFOLK TERN WFSV has successfully undergone sea trials at Aurora (Dalian) Yachts Ltd, the 17m long aluminium catamaran achieved its design speed of 25 knots with a full complement of passengers and crew. However it is the 20 knot cruising speed with its C18 Caterpillar engines running at 1750 rpm whilst burning a modest 86 lph that will be of significant interest to its prospective charterers and purchasers. The boat demonstrated excellent sea keeping abilities proving to be stable and highly manoeuvrable at all speeds, its load carrying capacity was also proven during the stability tests all of which were witnessed by the certifying authority MECAL’s Hong Kong representative.”
